JAKARTA, WORLD.WARTAGLOBAL.id - The contra flow traffic engineering system that had been implemented for the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road has been officially cancelled. Previously, this counterflow system was enforced from KM 47 to KM 68 as an effort to manage congestion and speed up the flow of vehicles heading to Central and East Java.
The decision to cancel the contra flow system was made after a study and evaluation involving the Ministry of Transportation and the police. The study found some issues such as traffic jams and accidents that occurred due to the contra flow system.
Although the contra flow system had provided a solution to alleviate traffic congestion on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the Eid al-Fitr homecoming in recent years, this decision was taken as a preventive measure to reduce the risk of traffic congestion and accidents that could occur during this year's homecoming season.
However, the Ministry of Transportation and the police remain committed to improving the services and safety of road users during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming. Several efforts will be made such as increasing road capacity, adding personnel, and strengthening traffic monitoring and control systems.
The public is urged to obey traffic rules and not force themselves to travel at the same time as the high volume of other vehicles. Additionally, the public is advised to prioritize safety when driving, such as checking vehicle conditions and adhering to the designated speed limit.
With the cancellation of the contra flow system on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road during the 2023 Eid al-Fitr homecoming, it is hoped that traffic can flow smoothly and safely for all road users.
