Banda Aceh — The pretrial motion filed by a paralegal from the Aceh People's Advocacy Foundation (YARA) against the National Police Chief, delegated to the Aceh Police Chief and further specified to the Dirreskrimsus (Special Criminal Investigation Directorate) of the Aceh Regional Police, was rejected by the judge. The decision was read in a hearing at the Banda Aceh District Court on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
"The respondent's objection to the applicant's pretrial motion, citing obscuur libel in the category of error in object, is accepted. The applicant's motion is deemed inadmissible (niet ontvankelijk verklaard), and the applicant is ordered to pay the case fees, amounting to zero," read the decision statement.
Meanwhile, Kombes Winardy, Dirreskrimsus of the Aceh Regional Police, as the respondent, stated that the pretrial motion filed by YARA's paralegal was related to a corruption case being handled by the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate of the Aceh Regional Police.
According to him, the case being handled was in accordance with the laws and regulations in force, from investigation, inquiry, to the determination of suspects. All of this had undergone a thorough and lengthy legal process.
"The handling of the case that was subjected to the pretrial motion has been conducted in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. In fact, it was rejected by the judge," Winardy explained in a statement on Thursday, October 24, 2024.
On the other hand, Winardy also emphasized his commitment to continue listening to feedback and constructive criticism from the public to improve the quality of service and law enforcement. Such support, he noted, is a crucial foundation for improving performance, enhancing professionalism, and achieving justice for all parties.
"Public support is a key element in various aspects of law enforcement. We believe that a strong partnership between the police and the community will strengthen efforts to prevent crime and handle legal cases more effectively," concluded the 1998 Akabri graduate.
