BADUNG, Bali, WorldWartaGlobal.Id – A French national identified as Kim Josy Becquet has been arrested by the Ngurah Rai Class I Special Immigration Office for illegally promoting nightlife businesses in the Canggu area of Badung. The arrest underscores Indonesia’s increasing vigilance against foreign nationals working without proper permits.
Armed with French passport number 17DK45XXX, Kim was found to be conducting unlicensed marketing activities for several popular clubs, including Morabito Club and Da Maria, both of which require promotions to be handled by licensed entities with valid work permits. Intelligence operations carried out earlier in the week revealed Kim’s long-standing involvement in unauthorized business activities.
“After further investigation, it was revealed that Kim had been conducting illegal promotions for quite some time,” said an Immigration official who requested anonymity, Friday (October 31).
As a result, Immigration imposed strict administrative measures—deportation and a five-year re-entry ban. “If not this Saturday, then next Monday at the latest, the person concerned will be deported and prohibited from entering Indonesia for the next five years,” confirmed a source within the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.
Head of Immigration Information and Communication Section, Husnan Handano, S.H., emphasized that this enforcement action reflects the government’s firm stance on maintaining public order and safeguarding opportunities for local workers. “This law enforcement is proof of the government’s seriousness in maintaining order, protecting local workers’ rights, and ensuring that no foreign nationals operate illegally in Bali,” Husnan stated.

The case has drawn positive responses from the local community. Made Santoso, a Canggu resident, expressed his appreciation for the swift action. “We are happy when the law is enforced. Job opportunities must be protected so that Balinese people benefit from them, not exploited by foreigners who work illegally,” he said.
Immigration authorities reaffirmed their commitment to continue cracking down on similar cases, stressing that illegal operations by foreign nationals threaten local economic balance and community integrity. The deportation of Kim Josy Becquet serves as a strong warning to foreigners attempting to exploit Bali’s booming tourism sector without complying with the law.
“This is not merely about punishing violations,” an Immigration source added, “but about ensuring that Bali remains a safe, fair, and lawful destination—for both its residents and legitimate visitors.”
