Ngurah Rai Immigration Office has deported BR, a Lithuanian national reportedly born in Israel and allegedly linked to the social media account @the.bali.dream, after authorities determined that he had misused his immigration status for paid content creation and digital marketing activities in Indonesia.
The enforcement action followed intelligence gathering triggered by information circulating widely on Instagram, particularly through the account @aelexav, which alleged the involvement of two former Israeli military personnel in the management of a travel agency operating in Bali.
Ngurah Rai Immigration’s Intelligence and Immigration Enforcement Team (Inteldakim) subsequently conducted verification and an in-depth examination of immigration records.
Ngurah Rai Immigration Chief Muhamad Novyandri said authorities would follow up on information concerning foreign nationals whenever their activities could potentially affect public order or security.

Facial Recognition Identified Two Foreign Nationals
As part of the investigation, immigration officers used a Face Recognition Identification System to identify two individuals appearing in the social media posts.
They were identified by the initials SG (30) and AC (28).
Both were German passport holders and were recorded as having been born in Israel.
However, immigration movement records showed that SG and AC had already left Indonesian territory on August 11, 2025.
The investigation subsequently turned toward the activities of a travel-related business operating under the name “The Bali Dream.”
The Bali Dream Under Immigration Scrutiny
According to the investigation, The Bali Dream offered travel-planning services, honeymoon arrangements and visa-related assistance for holders of Israeli passports.
Immigration officers found that the website associated with the business and its business WhatsApp number were linked to BR.
Immigration records showed that BR entered Indonesia on May 7, 2026, using a Business Visit Visa.
The subsequent investigation allegedly found that BR was not merely engaging in permitted business-visit activities.
Instead, he was allegedly involved in paid content creation and digital marketing activities while in Indonesia.
That finding became the basis for immigration enforcement.
Alleged Misuse of Immigration Status
The central issue in the case is not BR's nationality or place of birth, but whether his actual activities in Indonesia were consistent with the immigration status and permission he held.
Indonesia's immigration regulations distinguish between activities permitted under different types of visas and residence permits. Foreign nationals are required to comply with the purpose and conditions attached to their immigration status.
In BR's case, Ngurah Rai Immigration concluded that his activities constituted a violation warranting administrative immigration action.
Deportation and Five-Year Entry Ban
As a result, BR was subjected to administrative immigration action in the form of deportation.
Authorities also imposed a five-year entry ban effective August 13, 2026, with the possibility of an extension in accordance with applicable regulations.
BR was deported from Indonesia on Thai Airways flight TG32, traveling from Denpasar to Bangkok before continuing on connecting flights to Frankfurt and ultimately Vilnius.
Immigration authorities also stated that, up to the completion of their investigation, they had not found a physical office or business premises for The Bali Dream in Indonesia.
Digital Businesses Create New Immigration Challenges
The case highlights a growing challenge for immigration authorities in Bali.
Modern businesses do not necessarily require a conventional office, storefront or physical headquarters. A website, Instagram account, WhatsApp Business number, digital payment system and online marketing network can effectively function as a virtual business operation.
This means immigration supervision cannot rely solely on physical inspections.
Authorities increasingly need to examine digital footprints, promotional activities, commercial transactions, business relationships and the actual activities carried out by foreign nationals.
The key question is straightforward:
Does what a foreign national actually do in Indonesia match what their visa and residence permit allow them to do?
Bali Remains Open — But the Law Applies to Everyone
Director General of Immigration Hendarsam Marantoko emphasized that Indonesia welcomes foreign visitors and supports a healthy tourism industry, but every foreign national is required to respect Indonesian law.
The message from immigration enforcement is clear: Bali is open to international visitors, investors, entrepreneurs and tourists — but it is not a legal vacuum.
Foreign nationals who enter Indonesia must comply with the conditions attached to their immigration status.
The BR case therefore goes beyond a single deportation.
It raises a broader issue about how Bali supervises the rapidly expanding digital economy operated by foreign nationals, particularly businesses that can function entirely online without a visible physical office.
For immigration authorities, the challenge is no longer simply determining who is staying in Bali, but also determining what they are doing, how they are generating income, and whether those activities are legally authorized.
WartaGlobal's assessment: Deportation may close one case, but effective foreign-national supervision requires continuous cooperation between Immigration, law-enforcement agencies, tax authorities and other relevant institutions to ensure that legitimate tourism and investment are protected while violations are dealt with firmly and transparently.
