New Zealander Caught in Business Permit Forgery and Manipulation Case, Faces 12 Years in Prison

DENPASAR 23/11/2025, WorlWartaGlobal. Id
A serious legal case has ensnared Ataria Walter Wilson (44), a New Zealand citizen, who is suspected of falsifying permit documents and manipulating local business data in Bali. Wilson is now a suspect and is facing a civil lawsuit and a criminal report that has entered the investigation stage at the Bali Regional Police as of November 21, 2025.

The victim's attorney, Agustinus Nahak, S.H., M.H., stated that Wilson, who serves as Director of PT Idanz Joint Ventures, allegedly acquired a local business, PT Yes Fitness Indonesia, without permission by manipulating the Business Identification Number (NIB) in the OSS system. This fact was discovered after the lawyer discovered that the NIB of the victim's fitness business was listed on Wilson's NIB even before the land lease contract that forms the basis of this case was signed on December 7, 2024.

The case began with a personal relationship between the victim, Rani Revina, and Wilson, whose care and needs were met for six months. However, Wilson is suspected of exploiting that trust to prepare a fraudulent scheme to take over the business.
The promise to build a pharmaceutical factory was apparently just a disguise, because Wilson's NIB actually highlighted the same fitness business as the victim's.
The Bali Police suspect Wilson of violating Articles 263 and 264 of the Criminal Code regarding document forgery and Article 35 in conjunction with Article 51 of the ITE Law regarding electronic document manipulation, with a penalty of up to 12 years in prison. In addition, immigration violations are also being investigated, and the Directorate General of Immigration is being urged to immediately follow up on his residence permit status, including the possibility of deportation. The attorney also asked the local government to check the legality of the buildings Wilson built on rented land. If they do not have permits such as PBG or IMB, they are asked to seal or even demolish the buildings.

This case is a stern warning that foreign investor status cannot be used as a cover to harm local residents and violate Indonesian law. The legal process against Wilson is ongoing at the police and courts in Denpasar. The Regional Police only confirmed that the case is still under investigation at this time.
