The FKPPI Legal Aid Institute (LBH FKPPI) of Bali Province has strongly highlighted the alleged bias of internal elements within the Denpasar Immigration Office in a suspected fraud case involving the Maxx's Group agency. This case has drawn in a number of Foreign Nationals (WNA) as victims who claim to have been deceived in the processing of their residence permits and immigration documents in Indonesia.
In a press release issued today, LBH FKPPI conveyed its deep concern over findings during the legal assistance process for the victims. The institution revealed indications of injustice in the case handling, where the victims instead faced various pressures from administrative policies, while the Maxx's Group agency, reported as a suspect, is alleged to have received facilitated access and protection from certain individuals.
"We have found significant irregularities in the way this case is being handled," asserted an official statement from LBH FKPPI, quoting the assessment of its Chairman, Gede Sugianyar. "The victims, who should be the party protected by the law, are instead facing difficulties. Conversely, the agency appears to receive special treatment. This situation raises major questions about the neutrality and integrity of the officers on the ground."
Furthermore, LBH FKPPI analyzed that the alleged protection of the agency by internal elements is a serious issue that must be promptly addressed. Such actions, if proven, clearly contradict the principles of justice, professionalism, and neutrality of state apparatus as mandated by laws and regulations.
As a concrete form of commitment to transparency and fair law enforcement, LBH FKPPI Bali announced two strategic steps:
1. Submitting an official request for clarification to the Denpasar Immigration Office to demand an open explanation regarding their procedures and the attitude of their officers in this case.
2. Continuing to oversee the legal process against the Maxx's Group agency until its resolution, ensuring the victims obtain justice and the full restoration of their rights.
LBH FKPPI also issued a strong appeal to the ranks of the Denpasar Immigration Office to be cooperative, transparent, and side with the truth. The institution emphasized the importance of upholding the principle of victim protection and closing any opportunities for practices of authority abuse within the internal agency.
"It is the obligation and duty of Immigration to side with the victims, not with the party suspected of committing fraud," the statement stressed. "We hope a cooperative attitude from the Immigration office can help restore public trust and maintain the good name of the Immigration institution itself."
By taking these firm steps, LBH FKPPI hopes that the handling of the Maxx's Group case can become a momentum for correction and improvement to strengthen the foundation of justice and integrity in the enforcement of immigration law in Indonesia. All parties are urged to be open and committed so that this case is not only resolved but also becomes a valuable lesson for the judicial bureaucracy.
