The UNESCO World Heritage site of Jatiluwih is set to host its biggest celebration of culture and sport yet. The 7th Jatiluwih Festival is officially scheduled for June 20-21, 2026, in Jatiluwih Tourism Village, Penebel District, Tabanan Regency.
This year’s edition marks a milestone. For the first time, the festival has passed a rigorous curation process and been included in the 2026 Karisma Event Nusantara calendar by Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism.
The inclusion signals national recognition of Jatiluwih’s commitment to eco-tourism, the preservation of the Subak irrigation system, and its tangible impact on the local UMKM economy.
A 2,000-Runner 5K Through Iconic Rice Terraces
What sets this year’s festival apart is a partnership with the Association of Indonesian Travel Agencies, ASITA. On day two, Sunday, June 21, 2026, the festival will host its first-ever Run 5K event in the heart of Jatiluwih.
The race was initiated by ASITA to mark 100 Years of Bali Tourism. Riding the wave of booming sport tourism, organizers expect at least 2,000 runners from running communities across Bali and beyond.
Participants will run through cool mountain air with the backdrop of Jatiluwih’s iconic terraced rice fields.
“The 7th Jatiluwih Festival is more than a cultural celebration. It’s a symbol of Bali’s revival toward quality, sustainable tourism,” said John Ketut Purna, Operational Manager of DTW Jatiluwih.
He added that the festival’s inclusion in Kemenpar’s KEN program and the collaboration with ASITA show that nature, sport, and culture can work together to drive the local economy.
Boost for Local Economy
Purna said the 2,000 runners are expected to create a significant multiplier effect for the local tourism ecosystem. Homestays, local warungs, and flagship Jatiluwih products like red rice and coffee are set to benefit.
Beyond the race, the two-day festival will feature traditional Balinese arts and performances outdoors, exhibitions of Tabanan’s UMKM products and local cuisine, and education on the Subak farming system.
Registration for the Run 5K is now open online. Organizers invite locals, domestic tourists, and international visitors to be part of this historic moment at Jatiluwih Festival VII.
