The Indonesian Maritime Shipyard Association (Asosiasi Galangan Samudra Indonesia/AGSI) monitored the five-day search operation for three Persons On Board (POBs) of the speedboat BALIMAN, which reportedly suffered engine failure in the waters of Manta Point, Nusa Penida, Bali.

The search operation ended with the three POBs being found safe at Puger Beach, East Java.

The three individuals were identified as I Nyoman Budiana, the captain, along with Keristino Sahreza Avendi Da and Niko Demios Landena, who were serving as crew members.

AGSI Chairman Alif Fian Nurcahyamto, together with the organization's officials, continued to monitor developments from the moment information about the incident was initially received.

The information subsequently became the basis for coordination with various stakeholders involved in the maritime emergency response.

Alif said AGSI received information from members of the public at around 5 p.m. regarding a fishing vessel reportedly experiencing difficulties after its engine stopped or it ran out of fuel.

"We extend our highest appreciation to Basarnas, KSOP, the Denpasar Navy, and PSDKP for their assistance and hard work during the five-day search operation," Alif said.

According to Alif, the successful operation was supported by coordination and cooperation among various agencies, including water police, the Indonesian Navy, the harbor authority, KPMP and Basarnas.

He also expressed appreciation to all stakeholders involved in the search and rescue effort.

"We thank all the stakeholders who have contributed greatly, including Polair, Polairud, the Indonesian Navy, the harbor authority, KPMP, Basarnas and others. We hope this will become an even stronger synergy in the future," he said.

AGSI Monitoring Continued Through Puger

AGSI's involvement did not end with monitoring the search operation from Bali.

After information emerged regarding the possible location of the BALIMAN and its crew, AGSI Secretary-General Febri Hantari, S.H., continued monitoring the situation by coordinating with relevant authorities and checking the condition of the three POBs at the Puger Naval Post, as well as with local SAR and Basarnas personnel.

The follow-up monitoring was conducted to verify the information regarding the three POBs and to ensure their condition after they were evacuated.

The Denpasar Search and Rescue Office received information about the three POBs on Wednesday night, September 16, 2026, at approximately 9:06 p.m. WITA.

Initial information indicated that the speedboat and its three occupants had been evacuated by local fishermen to Puger Beach, East Java.

The Banyuwangi SAR team subsequently conducted direct verification.

The verification confirmed that all three POBs had been found safe and in good health. No fatalities were reported.

AGSI Highlights Importance of Maritime Safety Coordination

The BALIMAN incident has drawn AGSI's attention to the importance of coordination in responding to emergencies at sea.

The speedboat, initially reported to have encountered problems in the waters around Manta Point, Nusa Penida, was eventually located at Puger Beach, East Java.

The significant change in location illustrates the challenges involved in maritime search operations, where wind direction, ocean currents and the potential movement of a vessel must be taken into consideration.

Under such circumstances, information provided by members of the public and fishermen, together with the efforts of SAR teams and relevant stakeholders, becomes an important part of the search and rescue chain.

For AGSI, its involvement in the incident reflects the organization's concern for maritime safety.

Monitoring was carried out from the moment the initial information was received, throughout the search operation, and until the condition of the three POBs was confirmed after their discovery.

With I Nyoman Budiana, Keristino Sahreza Avendi Da and Niko Demios Landena found safe, the five-day search for BALIMAN ended with a positive outcome.
