Hundreds of women police officers from 43 countries took part in the IAWP 2026 Parade of Nations at Niti Mandala Renon Square in Denpasar, Bali, on Sunday, September 20, 2026.

Wearing their respective police uniforms and carrying national flags, the international delegates marched through Renon accompanied by a marching band, creating a vibrant international atmosphere in the heart of Denpasar.

The parade was jointly attended and released by the Governor of Bali and Bali Police Chief Inspector General Daniel Adityajaya, together with relevant officials.

For the Bali Police, the event was more than a ceremonial parade. It provided an opportunity to introduce women police officers from different parts of the world while strengthening professional relations and camaraderie among policewomen internationally.

“This Parade of Nations introduces women police officers from around the world through the defile, displaying their uniforms while also demonstrating friendship and togetherness among women police officers,” Daniel said.

More Than a Parade

Behind the colorful procession lies a broader international agenda.

IAWP 2026 carries the theme “Women Leading Global Change” and is being held in Nusa Dua, Badung, through September 24, 2026.

A total of 464 delegates from 43 countries are participating in the event.

The international gathering provides a platform for exchanging experiences and discussing issues related to policing, including technological developments, women’s leadership, capacity building, and international networking and cooperation among women police officers.

A Meeting Point Between Policing and Balinese Culture

The event also carries a cultural dimension.

Delegates were introduced to traditional Balinese performing arts, including Genjek from Karangasem.

Several delegates enthusiastically joined the rhythm and danced together, creating an informal atmosphere of cultural exchange.

The moment demonstrated that international police cooperation can extend beyond formal meetings. Cultural interaction can also serve as a bridge for communication, mutual understanding and professional relationships.

Indonesia’s Delayed Hosting

IAWP President Julia Jaeger expressed her appreciation for the organization of IAWP 2026 in Bali.

Indonesia had originally been scheduled to host the event in 2021, but the plan was postponed because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We are impressed by the women police officers of the Indonesian National Police who have welcomed us and worked hard to prepare this meeting,” Julia said during the opening of IAWP 2026 in Nusa Dua.

The 2026 gathering therefore represents the realization of an international policing event that had previously been delayed, bringing together women police officers from dozens of countries in Bali.

Journalist’s Perspective

The Parade of Nations in Renon offered more than a colorful public spectacle.

Different uniforms, flags and languages stood together in one procession.

At a time when policing is increasingly shaped by technology, evolving security challenges and cross-border cooperation, international professional networks provide an important channel for exchanging experience and strengthening institutional connections.

IAWP 2026 places women police officers at the center of that conversation under the theme “Women Leading Global Change.”

Bali is the host. Renon is the stage. The message reaches beyond borders: leadership, professionalism and cooperation among women in policing are increasingly part of the global conversation.
