Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono Inaugurated as Minister of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency: Democratic Party Officially Joins Jokowi's Cabinet.

Wednesday, February 21, 2024

Jakarta,WORLD.WARTAGLOBAL.ID - This morning, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) was officially sworn in as Minister in the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN), replacing Hadi Tjahjanto, whose remaining term was under President Jokowi's administration for the period 2019-2024. The swearing-in process took place at the Presidential Palace on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara, Central Jakarta, starting at 10:00 AM local time.

During the ceremony, AHY, who is also the Chairman of the Democratic Party, arrived at the Palace through the secret entrance commonly known as the Bali door, accompanied by his wife, mother, and siblings. Although not physically present, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY), AHY's father, has given his blessing for AHY's appointment as Minister of ATR/BPN and prayed for his successful tenure.

Jokowi's decision to appoint AHY as Minister of ATR/BPN was made because AHY decided to join the Indonesia Maju cabinet after ten years of being in opposition.

The Chairman of the Golkar Party, Airlangga Hartarto, who was also present at the event, stated that AHY's appointment did not pose any problems, considering that the Democratic Party had previously formed a coalition with Prabowo Subianto, which further strengthened Jokowi's government. "There is no problem, as the Democratic Party was known to have formed a coalition with Prabowo Subianto in the previous Presidential Election," said Airlangga.

AHY's appointment as Minister of ATR/BPN is considered a gift due to his support for Prabowo. Although the Democratic Party had been invited to join the Jokowi administration previously, it was rejected by PDIP. Now, Jokowi appears more independent, thus eliminating significant obstacles for the Democratic Party to enter the Indonesia Maju composition.

It should be noted that during Jokowi's administration, there have been eleven reshuffles, with the composition of the second-term government involving eight political parties and one opposition party. This is the largest coalition in Indonesian history. Currently, government support stands at 91%, with exceptions if there are changes from PDIP, Nasdem, PPP, PKB, and the President's stance.

Furthermore, Prabowo has promised to continue Jokowi's administration if elected as president. His good relationship with Megawati Soekarnoputri, as well as Gerindra Party's lack of issues with PDIP, further strengthens political stability in Indonesia.
