Garuda flight GA 716 on the Jakarta-Melbourne route on June 6, 2025, became the center of a sensational story: a passenger lost his cellphone. After reporting it, the Find My iPhone feature indicated that the cellphone had appeared at the crew's hotel in Melbourne - then reportedly thrown into the river!
Garuda immediately acted swiftly: a total investigation, all cabin crew on duty were temporarily suspended so as not to interfere with the investigation. Ade R Susardi, Commercial Director, said that this was part of standard procedure to ensure everything was clear.
Not only that, the Garuda team immediately contacted the airport, helped the passenger report to the police in Melbourne, and even sent a representative there to accompany him during the report. They also promised to continue to stay in touch with the passenger so that this problem could be resolved comfortably.
In essence, Garuda apologized, said they were sad about this incident, and ensured that all SOPs had been carried out. Now it's up to the authorities to continue looking for the cellphone - hopefully they will find it soon!
