Jakarta, August 28, 2025 - The Jakarta Provincial Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPID) issued a letter of appeal to broadcasters in Jakarta to broadcast news and coverage related to the demonstrations while adhering to journalistic principles and maintaining public order and security.
In its letter, the Jakarta KPID urged broadcasters not to broadcast or report content containing excessive, provocative, or escalatory violence. Broadcasters are also expected to uphold journalistic principles, such as accuracy, balance, and fairness.
The Head of the Jakarta KPID, Puji Hartono, stated that this appeal was issued as a preventative measure to maintain a conducive, safe, and peaceful situation in the community.
"We hope that broadcasters will heed and comply with this appeal to maintain public order and security," said Puji.
Thus, the DKI Jakarta KPID hopes that broadcasting institutions can play an active role in creating a cool and peaceful atmosphere through news broadcasts and coverage of current developments in the current issues that are occurring amidst public demonstrations.
