JAKARTA, Indonesia, WorldWartaGlobal. Id
Security for the 2026 Hajj season is starting early. The Directorate General of Immigration is moving fast. The Director General of Immigration went directly to Soekarno-Hatta Airport to oversee the departure process for pilgrims. Prior to that, the Director General met with the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Jakarta.
This move sends a clear signal: Hajj 2026 will be tightly guarded from start to finish. No room for violations, no space for brokers, and no compromise on security.
Meeting with Saudi Ambassador to Synchronize Security
The Director General of Immigration confirmed that coordination with the Embassy of Saudi Arabia is intensive. The meeting with the Saudi Ambassador discussed immigration mechanisms, visa validation, and early detection of potential non-procedural pilgrims.
“We are strengthening ties with Saudi authorities. The goal is clear: ensure every Indonesian Hajj pilgrim departs legally, safely, and comfortably,” the Director General said on Friday, May 9, 2026.
Data synchronization is key. Immigration will ensure that only pilgrims with official Hajj visas pass inspection. Visit visas, Umrah visas, or work visas cannot be used for Hajj. Saudi rules are strict, and Indonesia is in full compliance.
On-the-Ground at Soetta: Ensuring Safety!
After the diplomatic meeting, the Director General went directly to the Hajj Terminal at Soekarno-Hatta Airport. A thorough inspection was conducted. Checks covered immigration counters, autogates, waiting areas, and pilgrim departure flows.
Immigration officers are on 24-hour standby. Systems have been upgraded. Supervision is tightened. Document checks are multi-layered to prevent illegal pilgrims from reaching the Holy Land.
“We’re overseeing it directly. Ensuring it’s safe. Hajj is worship. It must not be tainted by individuals seeking profit,” the Director General stated.
Zero Tolerance for Non-Procedural Hajj
This year, Immigration is adopting a zero-tolerance policy. Any indication of non-procedural departure will be dealt with immediately. Brokers and rogue travel agencies are primary targets.
Immigration data shows that every year, some Indonesian citizens still attempt to depart using non-Hajj visas. The methods vary: joining Umrah groups and overstaying, using seasonal work visas, or falsifying documents. In 2026, that door is firmly closed.
Immigration has also activated special teams at major embarkation points. Soekarno-Hatta, Juanda, Hasanuddin, and Kualanamu are under tight watch. Coordination with the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Saudi authorities is running in real time.
Pilgrims Urged to Follow the Rules
The Director General of Immigration urges all prospective Hajj pilgrims to depart through official channels. Do not be tempted by offers of fast departure using non-Hajj visas. The risks are severe: deportation, fines, and blacklisting from Saudi Arabia.
“The state is here to guard. Pilgrims should focus on worship. Leave immigration matters to us. The important thing is to depart legally and return home safely,” the Director General concluded.
The 2026 Hajj season is expected to be busy. With tight security from the outset, Immigration ensures Indonesian pilgrims depart with dignity and return with a mabrur Hajj.
