Sunday, April 9, 2023

WORLD.WARTAGLOBAL.id - In the recently concluded Orleans Masters 2021 tournament, Indonesian men's doubles pair, Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian, emerged as runners-up after a thrilling badminton match against Denmark's Mathias Boe/Frederik Rønne in a tight smash exchange.

Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian, who were seeded fourth, managed to defeat several other seeded pairs on their journey to the final. They beat French pair Toma Junior Popov/Thibault Tricole 21-13, 21-14 in the semi-finals before facing Mathias Boe/Frederik Rønne in the championship match.

The final match, which lasted for nearly an hour, was intense. Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian won the first set 21-17, but Mathias Boe/Frederik Rønne bounced back in the second set with a score of 18-21. In the deciding set, both pairs fiercely exchanged smashes. Although Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian managed to lead at some point, Mathias Boe/Frederik Rønne ultimately won the third set with a score of 19-21.

Although they had to settle for the runner-up position, Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian appreciated their performance in the Orleans Masters tournament. They were happy to play well and achieve satisfactory results.

This achievement by Bagas Maulana/Fajar Alfian is also a positive outcome for Indonesian men's doubles badminton, which is currently looking for new talent to replace Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo/Marcus Fernaldi Gideon, who are currently retired.

Furthermore, this result also shows that the competition in the world of badminton is becoming increasingly intense, and Indonesia remains one of the major powers in the sport. We look forward to the further development of Indonesian athletes in upcoming tournaments. (World*/)
