WORLD WARTA GLOBAL - Golkar Party Chairman, Airlangga Hartarto, joked that former West Java Governor, Ridwan Kamil (RK), had already put up billboards saying 'OTW Jakarta' (On the Way to Jakarta) while Anies Baswedan was 'just moving around.' Anies' volunteers responded casually to Airlangga's quip about Anies.
"Politics should not be taken too seriously. Mr. Airlangga was joking, but as politicians, we respond both casually and seriously. We need to explain that Mr. Anies' movements are indeed not as extensive as during the presidential election because the scope is only around DKI Jakarta," said Anies' volunteer coordinator, Iwan Tarigan, to reporters on Monday (June 17, 2024).
According to Iwan, Anies' movements are more advanced compared to other prospective Jakarta governor candidates. Iwan cited the support of the PKB DKI Jakarta and the movements of Anies' volunteers.
"But compared to other candidates, Mr. Anies' movements are much better, and as proof, the PKB Jakarta has already declared support for Mr. Anies Baswedan, and hundreds of volunteer groups are continuously preparing to unite," he stated.
Iwan mentioned Ridwan Kamil, who, according to him, has not yet received support from any party. Iwan responded to Airlangga's joke by bringing up Ridwan Kamil's 'OTW Jakarta' billboard.
"Meanwhile, other candidates like RK and others still haven't received any party declarations or support. Even if they're 'OTW,' we don't know when they will arrive, whether their 'OTW' is still in place or already heading towards Jakarta," he added.
Airlangga previously commented on Ridwan Kamil's movements to run in the 2024 Jakarta regional election. Jokingly, Airlangga mentioned that Ridwan Kamil had already put up billboards saying 'OTW Jakarta.'
This was conveyed by Airlangga when asked about when Ridwan Kamil would start his movements in the Jakarta regional election, as former Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan had already begun his political tours.
"Mr. RK has already put up (billboards) 'on the way (OTW) to Jakarta.' As for Mr. Anies, he's just moving around," Airlangga said with a laugh at the Ainul Hikmah Mosque, Golkar Party Headquarters, West Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Monday (June 17).
Airlangga will decide whether Ridwan Kamil will run for the Jakarta governor or return to West Java in July. The decision will be based on the results of survey evaluations.
"According to our agreement, we will continue to evaluate until July. Of course, we will see who will run, and so on. We are also waiting for the survey results," Airlangga said at the Golkar Party Headquarters, West Jakarta, as reported by Antara on Monday (June 17).
