NasDem Faction Urges Government to Provide Marine Patrol Fleet
ACEH BESAR – The practice of fish bombing in the waters around Pulo Nasi, Aceh Besar, has caused severe damage to the marine ecosystem and led to a decline in fishermen’s catches.
Local fishermen have called on relevant authorities and law enforcement to investigate and take firm action against the perpetrators of fish bombing.
“Fish bombing in Pulo Nasi has severely damaged the marine ecosystem and reduced fishermen's catches. The local fishermen are demanding firm action against the perpetrators,” said a fisherman who wished to remain anonymous.
He further emphasized that the fishermen are urging the government to take strict measures against those responsible for the bombings, which have harmed both the marine environment and their economic well-being.
Aceh’s Marine and Fisheries Agency (DKP), through the Head of Marine and Fisheries Surveillance, M. Surya Putra, SE, M.Si, stated that to protect the marine ecosystem and prevent fish bombing, an adequate patrol fleet is needed to monitor the coastal waters.
“With the presence of a patrol fleet, we can monitor and take action against fish bombers who are damaging the marine environment and threatening the livelihoods of fishermen,” he said on Tuesday (May 20, 2025).
He acknowledged that fish bombing not only harms the marine ecosystem but also poses a serious threat to the fishermen’s economy.
Therefore, he emphasized the need for an effective patrol fleet to monitor the sea and prevent fish bombing. “This way, we can protect marine sustainability and improve the welfare of fishermen,” he said.
He continued by saying that a marine patrol fleet is crucial to address the issue of fish bombing. With such a fleet, enforcement and monitoring efforts can be strengthened. Additionally, patrols would also help raise public awareness of the importance of protecting the marine environment.
