Laura's attorney, Adv. Niran Nuang Ambo, SH., MH., along with Adv. Sri Kinanti Rahayu Kasman, SH., a colleague from Centrale Law Firm, spoke out regarding alleged extortion by investigators in their client's case.
Laura is currently facing allegations of violating Article 187 of Law No. 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Code. According to her attorney, the investigators allegedly demanded Rp 50 million as part of the case process. Laura has already paid Rp 150 million in compensation to the victim at the Villa on Jalan Karang Suwung Gang Rambutan, Tibubeneng.

The money was intended for a Restorative Justice (RJ) settlement. However, to date, the RJ process has not been realized, and the funds have not been returned. "Our client paid IDR 150 million to allow the RJ process to proceed, but to date, there has been no progress.

In fact, there are indications of extortion from investigators, who demanded an additional IDR 50 million in exchange for a written guarantee from our client," Adv. Niran asserted. In the latest development, Laura and her attorney reported allegations of embezzlement and fraud involving a Spanish citizen named Gonzalo Antonio Sanzhez Villa.
They hope the Badung District Attorney's Office will immediately follow up on this report and provide justice for Laura, an Indonesian citizen, who, according to her attorney, tends to be treated unfairly compared to foreign nationals. "Laura's position must be considered; foreign nationals should not be prioritized over Indonesian citizens in this legal process," added Adv. Sri Kinanti.

A criminal report under Articles 372 and 378 concerning fraud and embezzlement has now been filed. The legal team has secured all evidence, including video confessions, written statements, and peace agreement documents. "All the evidence we have shows that the settlement agreement could have been reached and was agreed upon, but was deliberately left undone. We will continue to fight to ensure our client receives the justice he deserves," Adv. Niran concluded.
