Escape through Bali? Total failure!
A deadly synergy between Ngurah Rai Immigration, Bogor Immigration, and Bogor City Police successfully nabbed three Chinese nationals suspected of masterminding a burglary at an elite housing complex in Bogor. They were arrested at the Immigration Checkpoint of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport on Saturday (5/2/2026), seconds before flying to Kuala Lumpur.
Three Suspects, One Slick Modus
The suspects: J.W. (33), R.W. (37), and H.L. (39). All three entered Indonesia on Visa on Arrival. Saturday morning, they confidently tried to flee on AirAsia flight QZ550 to Kuala Lumpur.
But Ngurah Rai Immigration officers sensed something off during departure screening. A deeper check revealed _boom_—all three names were on the Bogor City Police wanted list.
Break-In Using Football Masks While Owner Vacationed
The case is brutal. The aggravated theft occurred Sunday, March 22, 2026, at 8:45 PM WIB at the luxury home of Mr. Susanto in Bogor.
The modus was movie-like: the perpetrators wore footballer-face masks and black gloves. They broke in while the victim and family were vacationing in China since March 18, 2026. Empty house, ransacked.
Stopped at 7 AM, Handed Over to Police
At 7:00 AM WITA, their departure was officially delayed. Ngurah Rai Immigration immediately held a formal handover at the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police Office. The three Chinese nationals plus their passports were transferred to Bogor City Police for further investigation.
Immigration Chief: “Bali Is Not a Fugitive Escape Route!”
“We can catch anyone on the wanted list, as long as the information reaches Ngurah Rai Immigration quickly and accurately,” asserted Bugie Kurniawan, Head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Office.
“Securing these three Chinese nationals proves Indonesia’s entry points, especially Ngurah Rai, cannot be used to evade the law. We safeguard national sovereignty and will keep synergizing with law enforcement to ensure violators face justice,” he stressed.
This case is a hard slap: Bali is not a safe transit point for fugitives. Fast inter-agency data sharing is key. Think you can rob and run? Think twice if you’re flying through Ngurah Rai.
