The land conflict between the indigenous community and PT Jimbaran Hijau over a 280-hectare plot of land on Jimbaran Hill, Bali, has reignited. This time, the issue involves access for Hindu worship, after the company allegedly prohibited residents from repairing a temple that is legally recognized.

Peak Incident

The peak incident occurred in June 2025, when 46 heads of families who are the custodians of Pura Belong Batu Nunggul brought materials to repair the temple. However, their access was blocked by PT Jimbaran Hijau, which claims to hold the land rights. The road to the temple was not only blocked by a wall but also featured a stern warning sign that read,

"NOT A PUBLIC ROAD, ENTRY FORBIDDEN. ANYONE WHO INTENTIONALLY VIOLATES THE LAW IS THREATENED WITH A MAXIMUM IMPRISONMENT OF 7 YEARS."

Request for Mediation and Support

The Traditional Village Head of Jimbaran, I Gusti Rai Dirga Arsana Putra, requested serious attention from PHDI Bali and hoped the government could help resolve the issue. Meanwhile, the Chair of DPW SKP Bali, I Gede Oka Suanda Yudara, emphasized that the temple and its access must be returned to the residents as its custodians.

Efforts to Resolve the Conflict

PHDI Bali has stated its willingness to act as a mediator in this conflict. With support from community organizations like SKP Bali, it is hoped that this protracted land conflict can soon be resolved and the worship rights of the Jimbaran indigenous community can be restored.
